Wallet Compatibility
W2QR works with any BIP-39 wallet — or no wallet at all.
W2QR is not a wallet
W2QR is an encryption and backup tool for seed phrases. It does not manage keys, sign transactions, or connect to blockchains. Your encrypted QR is a portable backup that works independently of any wallet software.
However, W2QR includes a built-in wallet viewer that lets you check balances, view addresses, and perform basic operations directly in your browser after decrypting your seed phrase — no additional app needed.
Pure QR code usage
You can use W2QR entirely as a "QR code app" without ever installing a wallet like MetaMask or Coinomi. The workflow:
- 1. Create or import your seed phrase on W2QR
- 2. Encrypt it into a QR code
- 3. Use the built-in W2QR wallet to view addresses, check balances, and manage assets
- 4. When done, close the page — your seed phrase is cleared from memory
Your QR code is your wallet access point. Scan it anytime on any device with a browser.
Compatible wallets
Any wallet that accepts a BIP-39 mnemonic (12 or 24 words) is compatible. After decrypting your seed phrase on W2QR, you can import it into:
This is not an exhaustive list. Any BIP-39 compatible wallet works.
Supported blockchains
W2QR encrypts the seed phrase itself, which is blockchain-agnostic. The same encrypted QR works for Ethereum, Bitcoin, Solana, and any other blockchain that uses BIP-39 mnemonics.
The built-in W2QR wallet currently supports viewing addresses and balances for EVM-compatible chains (Ethereum, Polygon, BSC, Arbitrum, etc.). For other chains, decrypt your seed phrase and import it into a chain-specific wallet.
Backward compatibility
W2QR reads QR codes created by all previous versions, including the original text2qr.com format. If you have old QR codes, they will continue to work.
