W2QR

Getting Started

Create your first encrypted QR backup in under a minute.

What is W2QR?

W2QR encrypts your BIP-39 seed phrase (mnemonic) into a QR code. The QR code is your backup — print it, save it as a file, or store it in the cloud. When you need your wallet, scan the QR and enter your password.

Unlike traditional encryption, W2QR uses honey encryption: every password produces a valid seed phrase. An attacker who steals your QR cannot tell which password is correct — they get millions of plausible wallets.

No wallet app required

W2QR is not a wallet — it is a protection and recovery tool. Your encrypted QR works independently of any installed app. You do not need MetaMask, Coinomi, Trust Wallet, or any other software to create or restore your backup.

Once you decrypt your seed phrase, you can import it into any BIP-39 compatible wallet of your choice — or use the built-in W2QR wallet directly in your browser.

Create an Encrypted QR

  1. 1
Go to Create Encrypted QR — enter your 12 or 24-word seed phrase, or generate a new one.
  2. 2
Choose a strong password — this is your encryption key. Argon2id makes each guess expensive for attackers.
  3. 3
Save the QR code — download as PNG, SVG, or JSON. Print it and store it like a hardware wallet recovery sheet.

Everything happens in your browser — your seed phrase is never sent to any server.

Restore Your Wallet

  1. 1
Go to Open Wallet — scan your QR code with the camera, upload the image, or paste the data.
  2. 2
Enter your password — decryption runs in your browser using WebAssembly.
  3. 3
Use your seed phrase — view it on screen, copy it, or open it directly in the W2QR wallet. Import it into any compatible wallet app.

Choose your security level

Basic Mode

QR + password. Simple and effective. Honey encryption protects against brute-force. Best for users who want straightforward protection.

Advanced Mode

QR + password + an additional factor (device biometric, Google account, or Recovery Code). Adds disaster recovery and multi-factor security.
